Avoidant Behavior

Today and yesterday I have had avoidant behavior. I have finished tasks that I have been putting off for a loooong time because I was just "too busy." I bought binders and organized my huge pile of papers today, I unpacked a bag of stuff that has been sitting for about 2 weeks last night, I organized pictures into appropriate folders on my computer. Why am I doing all these things now? Why have I put off everything non-school related until now? I am pretty sure its because I'm supposed to be typing a 8-10 pg paper by 3pm tomorrow. I now have the introduction finished. I guess I have read a few of my sources... but that's pretty much it. This morning I got up early, but instead of getting some homework done or studying for my two tests on Friday, instead I took a long shower and did my hair. Wouldn't it be nice to have no cares in the world? Take me to the ocean. What I would give to be here.

coffee shops

I love coffee shops. Not only do I love coffee, but the people coffee shops attract are just so interesting and diverse. I'm sitting in the corner of the Mill and just a few minutes ago the wife to a elementary school classmate of mine walked in. She has two kids now. The girl looks to be about 6, and the boy about 4. Can you imagine having that age of kids already? What a different life you would lead.
Then, after the lady and kids left this man and his daughter walked in. They took me by surprise because they were so similar! It's like they were twins - just different ages and sex. Huh... I'm such a people watcher. Isn't everyone?

Ode to Sally

My best friend for the last 12 years has been Sally Ann.
Sally Ann has been with me through sooo much.
Even though we're far apart, we aren't.
Sometimes we don't talk for a long time,
but when we do, it's like we hadn't stopped.

As I talked to another good friend recently
(who will remain nameless per his preference)
I realized that the things one loves, they talk about.
(what I consciously learned yesterday)
So, here am I, talking about Sally.
She's one of the most amazing people I know

I'm in Kearney chillin' wit my homies at Holiday Inn for a PA Conference. Room 261 with four girls is still up at 1am, and were last night too. Imagine... we did not go out to drink, we are not playing games, we haven't turned on the TV. We're staying up telling stories and laughing. The beauty of simplicity
On a different note, I learned something new today. I went to a lecture on breastfeeding and learned that a newborn will urinate once on day 1, twice on day 2, three times on day 3, and from then on 4-6 times a day. Hmm... there's an interesting fact for you.

Easter

My friend Justin and I went to the easter morning sunrise service this morning. Even though it was at an incredibly early 6:45 on a Sunday morning, I had been looking forward to this event since Friday. We met at the rock pile but moved to the 6th floor of the Dick building as to see a better sunrise. Ahh.. I love Nebraska sunrises (my recent, extremely cold sunrise in the non-polluted, dry air of Moab, UT recently held nothing in comparison). But the best part wasn't about the beauty of the sun, but the beauty of the Son.
We sang, we talked, we prayed. It was beautiful.

my weekends

For the past two weekends I've done something fun with people on sabbath. Two weekends ago I went with friends to the zipline that Dylan and I set up in Bobby's Jungle. We had such a fun time trying to get over the water in the creek to the other shore. Apparently, we should have had a little more incline to the cable. It was great fun anyway, and almost everyone got wet! :) (Kell and Matt Turk made it)

Then last Sabbath I went with some totally different people to jump off of a bridge! WOW!! How scary! I have a video of it, but I'm a little challenged when it comes to actually posting it here. Hmm... so here's a pictures for now. Can you see me?
